  • Glow & Go Run: Registration begins at 8:30pm at Yellow Smoke Park (beach area). Race begins at 8:30. Bring your glow in the dark items. Register by May 15 – $25, after May 15 – $35.   • The Donna Reed Foundation’s First Friday Film: The 1984 film “The Karate Kid” starring Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita. Sponsored by The Choice, it begins at 7 p.m. All tickets – $5.00
  • Women in Business Impact Organization: from 8:30-9:30am. At Cronk’s in Denison. Membership is Free and unless it is a sponsored event, all participants will be responsible to pay for their own refreshments.

  • Uptown Market: (Bubble Bash: Blow bubbles for the kids) in beautiful uptown Denison from 10 am to 1 pm. Grab a coffee, walk the historic streets, and take in the sights and sounds of Uptown Market. Shop local retailers and unique merchants including: Fresh produce, plants and flowers, baked goods, handcrafted goods, gourmet foods and local art.   • Shred Event: Iowa Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) is partnering with Crawford County Trust & Savings Bank in Denison to sponsor a free “Shred Event” from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 7, at the bank, located at 21 North Main in Denison. A “Shred Event” allows individuals to reduce their risk of becoming an identity theft victim by having their documents securely shredded.
  • 6th Relay for Life Benefit: Saturday, June 7 at 6:00 pm at Jeremy & Julie Schroeder’s house. 2191 K Ave., Denison, IA. Food & Drinks Provided & a Fun Night with DJ and Dance Following Live Auction! Please come and help us try to help those who suffer from cancer. Everyone is invited so bring a friend! Raffling off a 55” TV this year. Pre-purchase raffle tickets at the Dairy Queen. $25 per person or $45 for two. This is an adults only party – so get a baby sitter and come support the cause.   • Norelius Community Library Family Fun Day: 2-4 p.m. Activities for all ages include: Puppet Show by the Denison Fire Fighters, Clowns, Hula Hoop and jump rope races, Eye screenings and dental supplies, Art lessons, Bicycle registration with the Denison Police Department, Fire Truck available for your exploration! Sunday, June 8

  • Freedom Picnic: All members and veterans of the US Armed Forces and a guest are invited to a free picnic in their honor at the south lakeside Shelter of Yellowsmoke park. Serving starts at noon with a program following. Sponsored by Operation Barnabas, a Lutheran support group for the military and veterans. For more info call George Salmon at 269-9506
  • Relay for Life Fundraiser: There will be members of the community serving you at the Denison Pizza Hut from 11am – 2pm and again from 5pm – 8pm to raise money for Crawford County Relay for Life. Pizza Hut will donate 20% of proceeds during those times if you tell your server that you want to donation to Relay for Life.

Tuesday, June 10

  • “Flags, Fathers and Freedom” Presented by Crawford County Republican Women. Join us at the Hillside Grille in Denison. 5:30-6:30pm Social time and Dutch Treat dinner. 6:30pm Program – Flag Etiquette & Founding Fathers Facts. 7:00pm Flag Burning Ceremony performed by the American Legion. Men, women, and students are welcome to join us for an inspiring evening.

Wednesday, June 11

  • The Crawford County Hunger Fighters and the Siouxland Food Bank will conduct the next bulk food distribution on Wednesday, June 11, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Denison. Food at the event is made available to Crawford County families and individuals in need of assistance. A numbering system will be used for line order. Doors will open at 2:30 p.m. for distribution. Individuals are asked to bring their own boxes, bags or laundry baskets to carry their food.
