  • Interstate Rodeo Association 2014 Championship Finals: Performance times: Friday and Saturday 7:00 PM and Sunday at 1:00 pm. Exceptional Rodeo 10 AM Saturday. Held at the Crawford County Fairgrounds-Expo Building. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for 4-11; under 3 are free. Tickets are available at the CDC Office.

  • Denison Drywall’s 50th anniversary open house. 11 am – 2 pm at their Denison location (2307 Hwy. 30 East). Burgers, hot dogs, chips, and drinks will be served.

Saturday, September 27

  • The Iowa Chapter of the ALS Association will sponsor a walk from 8 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 27, at the Denison High School track. Sunday, September 28

  • Denison Homecoming Week Kick-off:
    • 4:30 pm: Coronation ceremony at Denison High School Fine Arts Center.
    • 5:00 – 7:30 pm: Concession stand open
    • 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. – music performed behind the high school
    • 6:30 p.m. – junior versus senior powder puff football game
    • 7:30 p.m. – community-wide pep rally and bonfire behind the high school

  • Ambassador Call & Ribbon Cutting at Heidman Law Firm: Join us at 8:30am to welcome Brenda Van Dyke and her new business to Crawford County! Located at 27 S Main Street in Denison.

Friday, October 3

  • Women in Business Impact Organization: from 8:30-9:30am. At Cronk’s in Denison. Membership is Free and unless it is a sponsored event, all participants will be responsible to pay for their own refreshments.
  • Dension Monarchs’ Homecoming parade at 2 pm in uptown Denison. Individuals, groups or businesses interested in entering a float or vehicle in the parade are asked to line up next to the post office on First Avenue North beginning at 1:30 p.m.
  • First Friday Films at Donna Reed Theatre: Sponsored by Paul Thelen for Iowa House. Will be showing “FIELD OF DREAMS” at 7pm at the Donna Reed Theatre in Denison. Bring your family and meet Paul before the film at Reiney’s Soda Fountain (next door to theatre). FREE ROOT BEER FLOATS & HOT DOGS! Doors open at Reiney’s at 5pm.

Saturday, October 4

  • Uptown Market: (Fall Mums and Pumpkins-The title says it all! Here comes Fall!) in beautiful uptown Denison from 10 am to 1 pm. Grab a coffee, walk the historic streets, and take in the sights and sounds of Uptown Market. Shop local retailers and unique merchants including: Fresh produce, plants and flowers, baked goods, handcrafted goods, gourmet foods and local art.   • Crawford County Breast Cancer Awareness Walk: brought to you by The Hospital Foundation of Crawford County. Registration for the Walk begins at 8 a.m. and the Walk begins at 9 a.m. at Yellow Smoke Park. Proceeds from the Walk will go to support breast cancer awareness programs and to fund mammograms for women needing financial assistance.   • A fundraiser 5K walk will take place at the Great Western Park in Manning on Saturday, October 4, to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Foundation’s work to find new treatments and a cure for Cystic Fibrosis (CF). The theme for this year’s event is “Walk Today. Add tomorrows.” Registration for the event will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Great Western Park shelter house.
