- A public open house for the new building addition at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital (CCMH) Main Campus Clinic will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. this Friday, September 19. The general public is invited to attend the open house for a tour. Light refreshments will be served. A Chamber & Development Council ribbon cutting is scheduled at 9 a.m.
- TRI CITY BBQ FEST in Uptown Denison September 19-20
- Admission to the festival is Visitors will need to buy BBQ Bucks at the event to purchase nearly everything, including food, carnival rides and beverages. Tickets to the ZZ3/Hairball concert on Friday cost $15 in advance and can be ordered by logging onto www.tricitybbq.com. The ZZ3/Hairball concert is for individuals age 21 and older.
- The Denison Art Show on Saturday at the Crawford County Courthouse lawn will feature a variety of talented Iowa artists, who will also sell their works.
- Historical tours on Friday and Saturday will include the Donna Reed Theatre and Museum, the McHenry House and a riding tour of Denison.
- The Adams Motor Company Power Tour Car Show will be at the parking lot across Avenue C from the fairgrounds on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
- Members of the general public will be able to sample food made by the competitors at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday for the Norelius & Nelson People’s Choice judging. At all other times during the fest, individuals can choose from the menus of a variety of vendors, serving barbecue and non-barbecue food.
- At the Iowa Craft Beer Tent, individuals can choose from dozens of Iowa-brewed craft beers or their favorite domestics.

Monday, September 22
- First United Methodist Church in Denison is offering an eight-session workshop in grief recovery beginning September 22. The workshop is available to anyone who has suffered any kind of loss – the death of a loved one, a divorce or end to a relationship, a major financial loss – anything that’s a loss in a person’s life that causes them to not deal and function in life as they should. Coletta Weeda and Emily Lakner invite individuals to call them for more information about The Grief Recovery Method outreach program or to register. Flu shot special price of $25 for patients whose insurance doesn’t cover the vaccine. Payment due at the time of service. Appointments are recommended to reduce wait times.

- Interstate Rodeo Association 2014 Championship Finals: Performance times: Friday and Saturday 7:00 PM and Sunday at 1:00 pm. Exceptional Rodeo 10 AM Saturday. Held at the Crawford County Fairgrounds-Expo Building. Tickets are $15 for Adults and $5 for 4-11 under 3 are free. Tickets are available at the CDC Office.
