- Homecoming Parade: at 2:00pm in uptown Denison. No registration needed, line up begins at 1:30pm by the post office.
- First Friday Films at Donna Reed Theatre: Sponsored by Paul Thelen for Iowa House. Will be showing “FIELD OF DREAMS” at 7pm at the Donna Reed Theatre in Denison. Bring your family and meet Paul before the film at Reineys Soda Fountain (next door to theatre). FREE ROOT BEER FLOATS & HOT DOGS! Doors open at Reiney’s at 5pm.

- Uptown Market: (Fall Mums and Pumpkins-The title says it all! Here comes Fall!) in beautiful uptown Denison from 10 am to 1 pm. Grab a coffee, walk the historic streets, and take in the sights and sounds of Uptown Market. Shop local retailers and unique merchants including: Fresh produce, plants and flowers, baked goods, handcrafted goods, gourmet foods and local art. - Crawford County Breast Cancer Awareness Walk: brought to you by The Hospital Foundation of Crawford County. Registration for the Walk begins at 8 a.m. and the Walk begins at 9 a.m. at Yellow Smoke Park. Proceeds from the Walk will go to support breast cancer awareness programs and to fund mammograms for women needing financial assistance. - Dan Kaercher, a speaker with the Humanities Iowa Speakers Bureau, will share his discoveries and treasures of the great state of Iowa at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 4, on the first floor of Norelius Community Library in Denison.
- The Boy Scouts of Troop 55 in Denison will conduct their October paper drive this Saturday, October 4, at the Pronto parking lot. The Boy Scouts will conduct their paper drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will help unload tied, bundled or sacked newspapers. Individuals may bring their acceptable papers in paper bags or cardboard boxes but not in plastic bags.
Sunday, October 5
- Defiance Fire & Rescue Pancake Breakfast. 8am – noon.
- Dow City – Arion Fire Department Breakfast. 7:30 am – 12:30 pm.
- Ricketts Volunteer Fire Department annual pancake breakfast. 7am – 12:30 pm.
- Crawford County Right to Life will host a life chain event, “Stand Up for the Unborn,” from 2 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 5 in Denison. Participants are asked to meet behind Volkert Sales on Highway 30. Everyone is welcome to participate. For more information, call 712-263-5579.
- B.A.T.E. of Iowa District 19 will host its annual toy run for the Christmas Crusade for Children on Sunday, October 5, in Denison. A.B.A.T.E., which stands for A Brotherhood Aimed Towards Education, is a non-profit organization that works for motorcycle enthusiasts. Participants should meet at Bomgaars at 1 p.m. The toy run is open to the public. Participants don’t have to ride a motorcycle to join the ride.
