What's Happening in Denison July 10 – 19

The Crawford County Fair Board is in need of volunteers for the petting zoo and mutton busting. The petting zoo will begin on Thursday, July 24, and run through Sunday, July 27. Volunteers will be needed each night from 5 to 9 p.m. Mutton busting will take place at 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 27. Interested volunteers must be at least 16 years of age for the petting zoo and 18 for mutton busting. For more information contact the Crawford County Fair office at 712-263-5306 or Gary Volkert at 712-263-8990.

  • Cooking Matters at the Store: Brought to you by Walmart and the ISU Extension and Outreach. Sessions are at Denison Fareway. Sessions begin at 9am and continue until 3pm.   • The Iowa Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) State Council and the Cyclone Chapter of Ames will host an HR networking event from 4 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 17, at the Santa Maria Winery, 218 West Sixth Street, in Carroll. All business professionals with HR-related duties or responsibilities are invited to attend. Attendance is free and complimentary drinks and hors d’oeuvres will be served.   •  McHenry House Yard Sale: 8:00am – 1:00pm. Now accepting any donations for their Yard Sale.   • Crawford County Hunger Fighters will continue their fight against hunger by hosting a meal from 5 to 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, at Our Savior Lutheran Church.Tickets are available to purchase at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Grace Evangelical Free Church and V&H Tire Company. Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.
